Facade retention is a complex process that requires meticulous planning and execution. Total Demolition carefully assess the structural stability of the existing facade and develop a detailed strategy for its retention. This may involve the installation of temporary supports or the use of innovative engineering techniques to ensure the safety of the structure during the construction process.
TOTAL facade retention overview
With the ever-increasing importance of sustainability and the preservation of historic structures, retaining the existing framework of the structure while allowing the modernisation of building interiors has an increasingly significant role in modern construction.
With facade retention, existing facades can be stabilised to allow interior renovation. The historic aspects of a building may be preserved while interior layouts can be constructed. Typically, a shoring system is used to stabilise the facade
As a modern and professional demolition contractor, we have developed our capabilities to provide Facade Retention and Temporary Propping services within any Demolition Contract package.
Working closely with our structural engineers, we can and have designed and installed many temporary work schemes.
These have varied from simple back propping support schemes to eliminate floor overloading, to the provision of major detailed facade retention work, thus ensuring large areas of the original structure can be retained for the subsequent redevelopment and ensuring that the remainder of the building is demolished safely.
The support work type varied from the bespoke Mabey and RMD systems to a unique fabricated steelwork assembly.
